The Hunt cancels its premiere due to El Paso and Dayton shootings and criticism of Donald Trump

Universal has canceled the premiere of his new film, which was marked for September 27.

The new Universal movie, The Hunt, has canceled its premiere due to the shootings happened in El Paso (Texas) and Dayton (Ohio) and the criticisms expressed by the president of the United States, Donald Trump.

The Hunt follows the story of twelve people who wake up in an unknown place without knowing that they have been selected to be the prey in a human hunt, which has been organized by a group of rich people. The film is directed by Craig Zobel and stars Betty Gilpin and Hillary Swank.

Universal has reported the cancellation with the following statement:

Although Universal had already suspended the marketing campaign, after careful thought the studio has decided to cancel the plans to release the film. We support our directors and will continue to distribute films with visionary and daring creators, such as those associated with this satirical social thriller, but we understand that it is not the appropriate time to release the film.

The Hunt was scheduled to premiere on September 27 and, after this cancellation, Universal has not given new dates for the premiere. It is possible that the movie skips theaters and opens directly on the future digital platform prepared by Comcast, the owner of Universal.
